How Does the Contest Work?
Saudade is currently holding 9 separate contests for an assortment of art forms. You may submit your artwork or designs for a small non-refundable fee of $10 per submission. We did this to ensure that we can view each submission with the eye necessary for seeing artistic details within each form of art!
We are only accepting up to 250 submissions per contest so we urge you to submit while there are still spaces available! This number was chosen for accessibility and to allow the search for our winners to be a smooth and personal process. We don't want any one of you to be over looked!
If you regrettably miss your chance to submit before the closing date, no worries! We're opening submissions for each upcoming issue! To be notified of when submissions are open again please sign up for our newsletter and be the first to know!
We will pick one winner out of each contest and 10 runner ups per contest to be displayed on our website!
Now we know this may seem like a small chance BUT 10 runner ups per contest is 90 unknown artists getting their art displayed in front of the eyes of MILLIONS for only $10! And that's just for one round of contests!

What Do You Get If You Win?
Winners Will Receive:

A 2-3 page feature showcasing their work

The option to send in additional submissions for their feature (audio & film submissions not included)

An optional interview for their article entry

A free copy of the issue they're included in
Runner Ups Will Receive:

An article on our website showcasing their submissions (the article will include their work plus a short bio detailing who they are and their socials)

Shoutouts on our social media (that's a single post per runner up across 5 platforms (Instagram, YouTube, Tik Tok, Pinterest, Facebook)
Submission Rules
While we understand art is a fluid means of expression and we allow everyone to express themselves freely without judgment we do have some rules on what can and cannot be submitted due to our plans of putting it on the internet and in a printed magazine!
Do NOT Send Us:

Any hyper-political hostile pieces that express discrimination of anyone’s age, race, gender, sexuality, religion, disability, or physical attractiveness.

Any vulgar sexual content that openly displays sexual violence or objectification

Any media that contains slurs or harmful language (this is in connection to point one)

Anything completely AI generated
You can send in pieces that include:

Artful Nudity (this includes visuals of nude forms that do not display the subjects in an obscene or lewd manner)

Think pieces on real world situations that include trauma or violence that do not romanticize or endorse dangerous or harmful behaviors

Original art pieces that have been digitally manipulated by editing programs
If your submission contains any of the prohibited elements listed above your pieces will not be considered for competition wins and you will NOT be refunded. If your submission is AI generated your work will be disqualified.
